Sports have proven to assist the development of physical and mental health considerably among young students. However, a few parents believe that spending time on sports may distract the student from their education, which may return unsatisfactory results for academic exams.

But engaging in a sport during school allows children to learn the very special skill called time management. By balancing time between sports and academics, they learn to excel at both, as most sports teams expect excellent results from the team members to stay on the team. Additionally, engaging in a team sport helps students develop team working skills. Once they mature and find jobs, knowing how to conduct and work with a team will make it easier to advance into leadership roles.

The majority of the government and international schools in Sri Lanka offer students exceptional amenities to pursue a sport.
