At times it feels like the world is divided between those who drink tea and those who consume coffee. You may say some people don’t enjoy either, but that seems like a pretty small segment of the world.

If you are making a transition to the world of tea after experiencing the buzz of coffee, choosing the best type of tea can be a struggle. There are many options with regards to tea, ranging from flavored to the classics. Even if you manage to decide on the type of tea you want, selecting between loose leaf tea and tea bags is a decision you must make with care.

“They both contain tea, so what’s the big deal?” you may ask.

There are apparent and subtle differences in using either one.

Which is more convenient?

Imagine a busy day, where you are rushing to make yourself a tasty breakfast before sitting for the morning meeting. Having tea bags will ensure a nice cup of freshly brewed, spill-free tea. Teabags assure you are using the perfect quantity of tea leaves. Additionally, all you would require is a bit of freshly boiled water or milk. On the other hand, tea in its loose-leaf format might make a big mess. You also decide how much tea leaves to use, and having too much would end up in a bitter cup of tea, but having too little, will minimize the taste.

Which has the better flavor?

Many believe that loose-leaf brews contain more flavors. Teabags, due to the design of the pouch, may limit the room to hold much flavor. Even though applicable for some tea bags, this may not always be the case with all tea bags. The minimal differences in the flavor you may experience using tea bags will not be as noticeable to novices.

On the contrary, if you are interested in experimenting with flavors and brews, you are better off with premium quality loose leaf tea variants such as Ceylon loose leaf tea.

The final verdict

There are differences in convenience and flavor between the loose leaf tea and tea bags. For starters, purchasing tea bags may be better. However, when evolving in their tea drinking path, tea drinkers should move to loose leaf tea. However, it is important, regardless of what form you choose, to always select high-quality tea such as Ceylon tea bags and Ceylon loose leaf tea.
